Yoga Fundamentals aims to provide new and experienced students with a strong foundation for a safe and rewarding yoga practice.  There is an emphasis on slow-flowing Sun Salutation variations, posture breakdowns and safe alignment.  Each class builds upon a theme that varies dependant on the individuals present, their experience levels and the energy of the day/season.  Richelle will teach sequences of basic postures as well as offer challenges to begin building strength and endurance, all with the intention of giving each student freedom to modify their practice as they need.

This class is appropriate for beginning students as well as more experienced practitioners who desire more precise instruction on alignment and transition techniques.

bio:  Richelle Ricard first stepped on the yoga mat ten years ago and for the past four has dedicated herself to a deeper immersion and study of the practice.  She has studied different disciplines through YogaFit, workshops with locally and nationally renowned instructors and has graduated from the YogaWorks 200-hour teacher training.  She started learning the healing arts at the age of 14 and has been a licensed bodyworker and massage therapy educator for six years.  She often incorporates yogic exercise with her massage treatments through private instruction.  Richelle brings her knowledge of anatomy and movement to her classes in easy to understand terms that make the practice safe and accessible to all ages and body types.  Yoga has brought profound change to Richelle's life--relieving chronic pain symptoms, significant weight-loss, elevated mood, and a positive life-perspective--and hopes to share this experience with anyone who is open to it.  Her approach to teaching breaks yoga postures down step-by-step so you begin to build strength and confidence from the very beginning.  She is immensely grateful for the opportunity to share her knowledge and experience with you.
