A delicious dive into somatic movement explorations including SomaDance and the 8 neurodevelopmental BrainDance patterns. We also enjoy lying down Somatic Bodyscan Meditations. This class draws from somatic movement education (including Hanna Somatics, Somatic Unwinding, the teachings of Moshe Feldenkrais), Skinner Releasing Technique, Alexander Technique, BrainDance, Embodied Anatomy and my lifetime of dance (more in bio page). Discover the amazing capacity of your nervous system for somatic releasing, resourcing and re-education. Chronic tension patterns change as the body regains its innate ability to self-correct to ease and efficiency (neuromuscular re-patterning). These somatic movement and meditation practices invite quiet mind, a deep unwinding and endless discovery.  Awareness of habitual thinking, moving and attention patterns is possible; and with awareness sits liberation.

Sunset Hill Somatics stands in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, Asian & Pacific Islanders, immigrants, refugees and LGBTQ+ communities.

Sunset Hill Somatics acknowledges that we are on the ancestral lands of Coast Salish Nations, whose people still steward this land today. This land we occupy embodies a living history shared by many nations, many of whom still fight for Federal recognition. These include the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People, and this land touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Duwamish, Puyallup, Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot nations. We recognize and honor with gratitude the land itself and all its Indigenous peoples, past and present.
